RPMI-1640 medium was developed by Moore and colleagues at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in 1966 to support the growth of human leukemic cells in both monolayer and suspension cultures.
RPMI-1640 medium is a versatile solution with numerous applications for a wide range of mammalian cell lines, including Jurkat cells, hybridoma cells, human myeloma, mouse hybridoma, human leukocytes, and B and T lymphocytes.
This formulation does not include L-Glutamine or folic acid.
