Fetal Bovine Serum (South America), pH treated

Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) is the liquid component of blood that remains after removing the cellular fraction and coagulation factors. It is obtained by centrifuging coagulated fetal bovine blood collected aseptically. Sterile FBS is produced through triple filtration at 0.1µm.

FBS contains proteins and growth factors that support the maintenance and proliferation of eukaryotic cells in vitro. Additionally, it includes attachment factors that form a “coating” on the plastic surfaces, enhancing cell adhesion. Due to the variety of components it supplies, FBS is indispensable in cell culture.

The EU recognizes several treatments that permit the importation of serum from countries not authorized to export fresh bovine meat, with pH treatment being one such method.

All FBS batches are tested for endotoxin and mycoplasma levels, specific viruses (BVD), hemoglobin, total protein content, and cell culture performance.

Origin: South America

The serum is collected or imported and processed in compliance with European regulations.
