RPMI-1640 medium was developed by Moore and colleagues at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in 1966 for the growth of human leukemic cells in monolayer or suspension.
RPMI-1640 medium is a multipurpose medium with various applications for a wide range of mammalian cell lines, such as the Jurkat cell line, hybridoma cells, human myeloma, mouse hybridoma, human leukocytes, and B and T lymphocytes.
This formulation does not contain L-Glutamine and sodium bicarbonate.
