RPMI-1640 medium was created by Moore and his colleagues at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in 1966 to support the growth of human leukemic cells in both monolayer and suspension cultures.
RPMI-1640 medium is a versatile solution with numerous applications for various mammalian cell lines, including Jurkat cells, hybridoma cells, human myeloma, mouse hybridoma, human leukocytes, and B and T lymphocytes.
